Welcome to Copper Fields School.
Our school is a specialist provision in Gunnislake. We are situated in East Cornwall within the Tamar Valley close to the Devon border. Our school provides full-time specialist co-education for up to 60 children and young people aged 4-16, who have a primary need of Autism Spectrum, communication and language and often additional needs.
Our vision to empower our learners to achieve their best outcomes is achieved through high quality education, in preparation for life. Our wonderful setting facilitates a nurturing approach for children and young people who have found the mainstream environment unable to meet their needs and a barrier to them being the best they can be. We pride ourselves on our culture of everyone being a unique individual. Together we achieve, through recognising and harnessing our strengths. We aim to unearth hidden talents and interests, inspire and empower.
Our school is housed in a former primary school and additional school buildings which have been redeveloped to be neuroaffirming. We have outdoor learning and recreational spaces to support our curriculum offer. Our curriculum is broad and balanced to empower our children and young people to access a well-rounded curriculum, personalised to individuals. Our location, being close to Dartmoor and the stunning coastline, provides many opportunities for utilising the outdoors and resources nearby. Our classes are named after local towns, providing opportunities to learn about the history, culture and traditions around us, including visiting these areas becoming positive contributors to our local community and beyond.
Curriculum
With a broad, balanced, memorable and enriching curriculum, we focus on developing core life skills such as communication and social ability, sensory processing and emotional regulation.
Clinical
As well as delivering the best possible education, we also have a clinical team who provide care and therapy to benefit the children and young people in our school. We aim to provide our students with a safe, caring and nurturing community with clear, consistent boundaries and high expectations.
