Tutor Time
During our tutor time, we provide a breakfast club, where our children settle into the school day. Tutor time varies on different days between Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) time, tutor learning and assembly where the school get together. DEAR time supports our priority of reading and fosters a love of reading in the school.
COPPER Time
During our COPPER time, we focus specifically on individual learning and development goals, from Education Health Care Plan outcomes or individual personal goals. We explore the successes and development of the day and review COPPER values from the day, where rewards can be earned and claimed. Out students can build up COPPER points which can be used to work towards larger rewards planned at key times of the year.
Our curriculum is centered around cumulative knowledge, understanding and application. Curriculum subjects have clear intent, setting out the intention of what will be learnt. This builds over time in a spiral curriculum upwards from the foundations, revisiting learning to retrieve prior knowledge and skills. Using this approach we are able to personalise learning to identify gaps in learning or understanding and ensure these are addressed. Our curriculum areas across the school are designed to work together and draw on themes to support one another. Literacy, numeracy, British Values, SMSC (Social, moral, spiritual and cultural) and Cultural capital themes are carefully linked across subject areas. An example of a morning session is shown below:
Further details for specific subject areas can be found in the curriculum policy and subject specific curriculum policies.
